We’re excited to bring you a major progress update—fresh from our trip to China! 

✅ Golden Samples Approved – Production Underway

We recently visited our manufacturing partners to personally review and approve the final components for both the Shape Invaders game and the Ultimate Gaming Table Topper. We’re happy to report that everything looks fantastic and production has now officially begun!

We’ve included some photos from the visit so you can see the progress for yourselves. After months of development and fine-tuning, it’s incredibly rewarding to see everything moving forward.

🎉 Mid-Autumn Festival Pause – But Still On Track

With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday in China, factories will briefly pause production, but they’ll reopen on 7th October, which means that our delivery timeline should not be affected.

·       ✅ Late Sept–Early Oct – Production in progress

·       🏠 October 7 – Production resumes after holiday

·       🚛 Late October – Orders ship from the factory

·       📦 Early December – Arrival at fulfillment warehouses

💡 Lights Update

To help keep shipping on schedule and comply with regulatory requirements, all lighting used in the Table Topper and Arena game is designed for 110v/220v sockets and is therefore classified as suitable for ages 14 and up.

For younger players, the game can still be enjoyed as usual, but must be used under adult supervision if the lights are plugged in. This step helps ensure smooth and compliant shipping in all regions.

🛠️ Table Topper – Lighter, Stronger, Smarter

The Table Topper is looking incredible! See the latest production sample unboxing below.

•  It features a double-strength aluminium frame, now anodised and powder-coated for extra durability and a sleek finish.
•  In its main carry bag, the tabletop weighs just 11 kg, making it easy to transport without compromising on strength.
• For buyers of the Ultimate Gaming Table Topper, the shelves, cupholders, and mat all fit neatly inside the main bag, adding only another 5 kg. With exciting new accessories on the way, we’ve also decided to include an extra accessories bag, so you can keep everything organised and protected.

🚀 Shape Invaders Update – Approaching the Final Stage!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a couple of months since our last update, thank you so much for your continued patience and support while we’ve been working closely with our factory partners to bring Shape Invaders and the Table Topper to life.

We wanted to wait until we had solid progress to share, and now we’re excited to let you know that we’re entering the final stages of tooling for both the game and the table.

 Tooling Nearly Complete 🛠️

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be wrapping up the tooling across all components, for both the Shape Invaders game and the Table Topper.

This has been a huge undertaking, but we're nearly there—and we’re feeling confident about the results so far.

Trip to China – Final Approvals ✈️

We’ll be travelling to China in early Sept to personally review and approve the golden samples. This final sign-off ensures that everything meets our quality standards before mass production begins.

We’ll also be taking plenty of photos while we’re there, and we can’t wait to share those with you in the next update.

🚀 Production Update – Shape Invaders & Table Topper

Hi everyone,

We know its been a while since our last update and we're sorry for the delay.  We know many of you have been waiting for news, and we really appreciate those who've reached out asking for an update.

We’ve been deep in development and coordination with the factory, and we now have a lot to share on both the Shape Invaders game and the Table Topper. We’ve made great progress—but we also want to be transparent about timelines. 

Shape Invaders Game - Update

We’re excited to share with you latest pics of the production plastic samples.  We think the fleets are looking fantastic!  

Check out at the pink glow on the Nebula Shield in the video below -  we’ve been pushing the factory to make the Nebula fleet shine as brightly as possible under UV light! And the Nyx and Helios fleets are also looking out of this world literally! We hope you agree that glitter effect really makes them sparkle.

The Shape Invaders Arena is also progressing well.  We've now completed suction cup force tests, and tooling for both the suction cups and bracket is now underway. Once we receive the first moulded samples, we’ll make final tweaks to ensure the best possible gameplay experience.

Table Topper Update

The Table Topper has evolved significantly during development, and we’re now confident that we’ve struck the right balance between durability, weight, and premium quality.

Here’s a quick look at how the design has evolved:

• The original wooden prototype failed drop tests, so we upgraded with rubber-covered metal corners.
• We added a metal cross brace across the entire width of the unit to strengthen it further.
• However after passing drop tests, the factory sample table weight ended up 20% heavier than our prototypes. 

• We then trialled lighter materials like vinyl-wrapped extrusions and expanded PVC, but they didn’t meet our quality standards.
• Ultimately, we’ve upgraded the entire frame to aluminium with a high-density PVC top. It’s strong, smooth, much more durable—and importantly, lighter than our earlier reinforced wood prototypes.  We’ll share photos as soon as we have them.

While these changes increase tooling requirements and lead times, we believe the final product will be well worth it. We're absorbing the additional manufacturing cost because we’re committed to delivering the best portable table topper we can.

Timeline Update

In our December update, we shared that we had to merge both shipping of the game and table topper into a single shipping wave, due to logistical complexity and cost.

Now, in addition to development work on the Table Topper, the situation has been further impacted by recent U.S. import tariff disruptions. These have significantly affected costs and timelines, particularly for goods shipping from China. As a result, we’re now aiming to start shipping both Shape Invaders and the Table Topper from the factory late September, with delivery through November.

We know this delay is disappointing, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. The decisions we’ve made—to merge shipments and improve the product designs—are all guided by our commitment to:

• Making sure you get the best possible version of both products.
• Keeping the shipping experience smooth and fair for all backers.

While there have been challenges, we’re incredibly excited about how Shape Invaders is coming together—and the Table Topper is shaping up to be something really special. We believe the final results will be worth the wait, and we can’t thank you enough for sticking with us on this journey.

Factory Progress & Tariff Challenges 🚀

Hello everyone,

We know it’s been a little while since our last update—thank you so much for your continued patience and support while we’ve been working hard behind the scenes.

As many of you may already know, game makers with production in China are currently facing major challenges, due to the recent changes to US import tariffs. Unfortunately these changes have significantly increased the cost of shipping to the US.  Along with all other importers, we are hoping that the tariff situation will change.

We’ve been exploring the best ways to handle this if it doesn't, and as a result, we’ll need to adjust the pledge manager to reflect the changes in US import duty properly. This has pushed our timeline back a little—but please rest assured:
✅ We’re actively working on a solution
✅ We remain committed to a smooth and fair fulfilment process

On the bright side, we recently visited the factories in China, and we’re thrilled with the progress! 🎉
Production on Shape Invaders and the gaming tables is looking great. We’re loving how the RGB lighting on the tables is coming together—and yes, the Shape pieces really glow!

Shape Invaders & Table Topper Production Update 🚀

Hi everyone,

We hope you’re all doing well and that the new year is off to a great start for you!

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who has completed their BackerKit pledge manager survey! If you haven’t had a chance to do so yet, there’s still time. If you haven’t received your survey, please let us know, and we’ll make sure you get it.

Now that Chinese New Year has passed, we’re back to working closely with the factories and wanted to share some exciting updates.

✨ Production Progress

📦 Shape Invaders Arena and accessories

• Tooling is almost completed on the Shape Invaders pieces.
• We’re finalising the net and revising the CAD of the supports for the Arena Edition. We remain on track to receive a final engineering pilot sample before manufacturing begins this spring.
• Samples of playing mats, UV Lights, bendy arms and phone holder parts have all been approved.
